New Pictures

I have been working on getting Alana’s picture gallery updated and hopefully will have that done tonight. I noticed when I was putting up the Christmas pictures that we didn’t have any of Alana opening any gifts. Thinking back, I don’t think any were taken because we decided to videotape and I forgot to make sure someone also took some still pictures. I can tell you Alana wasn’t really all that interested in opening presents, but really liked the paper and boxes. We still have the box her stuffed polar bear came in and I think she plays with the box more than the bear!

Hope everyone enjoys all of the new pictures!

9 Month Update

Sorry it has been so long since I have posted anything to the website, just been pretty busy around here.

Alana is doing great and is just getting so big!. She had her 9 month check up on January 14th. She weighed 20 lbs, 3 ounces, which was in the 75th percentile for weight. She was 29 1/4 inches long, which was in the 90th percentile, and her head circumference was 18 1/2 inches which was above the 95th percentile. She didn’t have to have any shots this time, but they did have to do some bloodwork which turned out fine. They just had us start her on a multivitamin with iron because her iron came up a little on the low side, but nothing to worry about.

Alana has started doing so many new things! She started crawling earlier this month and is getting into everything. In the past week she has started pulling herself up on her knees and now completely up to stand! We know it won’t be long for her to start walking. Last Sunday, she started waving goodbye, which is just so cute! Now she waves goodbye to me in the morning when I leave for work, which both makes me smile and makes me sad to leave.

So, I think Alana said her first word, but David isn’t convinced. She has been babbling for quite some time, saying wawa and baba, among other things, but this past Wednesday we were all out at my parents house, and David was holding Alana and my parents and I all heard her say “Daddy.” I thought it was pretty clear, but David thinks it was just more babbling.

As I said earlier, we have been pretty busy around here. The holidays were pretty hectic, but we had a good time. David’s Dad and his wife, Patti, came out from California for Christmas to celebrate Alana’s first Christmas with us. It was so nice to have them here and Alana enjoyed spending time with her Papa and Yaya. We had some snow the week of Christmas, so Alana’s first Christmas was a white one. We had Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas morning here at our house, and then had Christmas Day dinner at my parents home in Haslet. I finally managed to get out our holiday cards about half way into January, which I just have to believe is better late than never, right?

David started his new job with ACS, and it looks like he is going to be travelling a bit, so I know I will be posting more when he is out of town so he can see his little “Stinky Pants” when he is away. I have tried to get him to call Alana something else, anything else, but the name seems to have stuck for now at least.

I hope all is well with everyone else, and I am going to try to get Alana’s pictures updated and try to put news on here more than once every 3 months!

Take Care!

6 month check up and general update

Alana had her 6 month check up on October 12th and the doctor said she is doing very well. She weighed 18 pounds (75th-90th percentile), measured 27 1/4 inches long (90th percentile), and her head circumference was 17 3/4 inches (above 95th percentile). She got 5 shots, which she did not appreciate, but mommy and daddy were both there to comfort her.

Alana has now tried all of the 1st food veggies and fruits and we have not found anything that she doesn’t seem to like. We figure she just likes food! The doctor said we can move on to 2nd foods now, and we will as soon as we work our way through our stockpile of 1st foods!

Alana is doing so much now! She is a very busy girl, always on the move. She hasn’t started crawling but she rolls everywhere! She loves to play with her toys and loves her new exersaucer. She has a toy in her crib that is an elephant that plays music when you pull its tail. We have been awakened on a few occassions by that music in the middle of the night when she has woken up and is just occupying herself.

Alana has two teeth now! The first one came through on the 16th of this month and the next one came on the 24th! So she now has both of her bottom front teeth coming in, but she really hasn’t been very fussy at all, so we hope this will hold true when she gets others!

I am going to try and get her picture gallery updated in the next few days so keep checking back for new stuff!

Too Cute

I came home today and my mother told me something cute Alana did today so I just had to share. Alana was in her crib and had rolled onto her stomach. She had been trying to put her pacifier in her mouth but wasn’t having any luck. So, she put the pacifier downand just went down and grabbed it with her mouth and pushed herself up on her arms to show off that she had it in her mouth. My mom said she laughed so hard, which of course made Alana laugh too!

Alana is doing so many cute things, I wish everyone was here to see them all. She is getting so big, over 18 pounds now! She has her 6 month check up next Tuesday so we will see how much she has grown then.

This past weekend we went on our first off roading trip with Alana, and she seemed to enjoy it, except for being strapped in her carseat so much. She actually slept through a lot of the bumpy stuff which surprised us. We went to a place called Katemcy Rocks, about 4 hours southwest of here, and it is mostly a lot of rock crawling, which was something we hadn’t done before. I think we all had a good time.

We also went to the State Fair yesterday since I was out of school on Fall Break. David and I both had the traditional Corny Dogs, and we let Alana try the ketchup and mustard. I think she liked the ketchup best!

Alana does like her solid foods. So far she has had both Rice and Oatmeal cereals, and has tried several veggies (sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, and green beans). We will be starting fruits soon. So far, she seems to like everything she has tried.

Well, that it for now. Sorry I haven’t been so good about posting, but I will definitely post something after her appointment next week.

4 month check up

I forgot to mention in my last post that Alana had her 4 month check up on August 12th. She had her second round of immunizations and the doctor said she seemed to be doing very well. She weighed 15 pounds, 6 ounces which is in the 75th-90th percentile (he said closer to the 90th). She was 25 inches long which is in the 75th percentile, and her head circumference was 16.75 inches which is still in the 90-95th percentile. Her body seems to be catching up to her head! All in all it was a good visit, except for the shots, of which Alana very vocally expressed her dislike. But, she didn’t seem to have any adverse reactions and was over her initial anger over them very quickly. She has her next check-up on October 12, but I am hoping to find someplace to get her weighed this weekend to see what she is up to now. I am guessing somewhere around 17 pounds.

There are more pictures up now for everyone to see. Enjoy!

Update

Well. it has been a long time since I have posted anything and so I have an awful lot to update. Alana is doing wonderful and she is just so much fun! She has been rolling over consistently for the last week or so, so we have to keep a really watchful eye on her. She pushes herself up on her arms and we are pretty sure she will start trying to crawl here soon. We started her on cereal a couple weeks ago, and that is going well. So far, she has gotten rice cereal and oatmeal, but we will be starting veggies and fruits here shortly.

We went to California for a visit the first week of August. It was nice to see everyone and we are glad everyone got time to spend with Alana.

I have a ton of pictures to get up in the picture gallery, and hope to get most of them done today or tomorrow since we are off for Labor Day. I also have the link to Alana’s 4 month pictures:

I still haven’t received those pictures back from Sears due to some delay, and she is going in for her 5 month pictures next Sunday!

I am sure I will think of more to post soon, but that’s it for now.

3 months old!

Well, today Alana is three months old! We stopped by her doctor’s office and she weighed 13 pounds, 6 ounces. I’m going to have to find a tape measure to figure out how long she is. We also took pictures again today and here is the link so that everyone can see them. She smiled so big and you can really see her happy personality coming through.

Fourth of July

We didn’t do a whole lot for 4th of July, but did have a busy weekend. David did a wonderful job getting our yard looking nice and trimming all of the trees around the house. I will have to take some pictures so everyone can see how the house is looking these days. David has done a lot of work around here and it is looking really nice.

We had some friends over to BBQ on the 4th and played games with them that evening. We had planned to go and watch the fireworks display here in Trophy Club but Alana was fast asleep by about 8 o’clock so we just stayed in and I caught a glimpse of them from our backyard.

David is in California this week for training. He is in Monterey so I am pretty jealous, and Alana and I are missing him a lot. I am going to try to get some new pictures of Alana up through the week so keep checking back for new pictures!

Two months check-up

I know it’s been a while since I have updated everyone so I thought I would try and catch everyone up on things around here.

Alana had her 2 month check up on the 14th and she is doing very well. She weighed 11 pounds, 10 ounces, measured 22.5 inches long and her head circumference was 15.75 inches. These measurements put her in the 75th percentile for weight, 50th percentile for height, and 90-95th percentile for head circumference (doctor said there must be a big brain in there!). She got her first set of 4 shots and was none too pleased about that but she got over it quickly and didn’t have any lasting side effects. She just gets cuter every day and is just a joy to be around. She has been cooing a lot and makes the cutest noises. She has gotten really good with holding her head up, and just last Friday held it up for several minutes. She is also pushing herself up on her arms and I know it won’t be long before she is rolling herself over. I can’t believe how fast it all goes by.

We celebrated David’s first Father’s Day with just the three of us hanging out together all day. Alana and I got him a new Weber charcoal grill and a special key chain for Father’s Day and he seems to be enjoying them.

I am putting up the most recent pictures in the gallery for everyone to enjoy!
